Kara Joseph is a licensed, independent, clinical social worker in the state of MA who also holds an advanced certification in hospice and palliative social work. She graduated from Boston College with her Masters in Social Work in 1999 and has been working as a clinical social worker (primarily in hospice and palliative care) and therapist since that time. Kara is also a trainee for the certified poetry therapy program through the International Federation of Biblio/Poetry Therapy.

Kara is passionate about curious listening, expressive arts, and creating care spaces to support humans seeking to connect with themselves and the world in a more meaningful way. She has a special interest in working with people who are coping with life transitions, serious illness, chronic disease and pain, end of life issues, grief, and loss. 

Kara is a poet and writer and has poems and articles published in professional magazines, literary journals, and anthologies. She serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Poetry Therapy. 

Kara is a member of National Association of Social Workers, Social Work Hospice and Palliative Care Network, Amherst Writers and Artists, National Association of Poetry Therapy, Straw Dog Writers Guild and the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association.
